Perms :)

So... Perming was one of the tough parts of the course as nobody wants a perm anymore, therefore getting the clients was quite hard. But to be 100% honest, i didn't find perming that bad, besides the long time it takes to do, i actually enjoyed it :) because the outcome is soooo beautiful! The first picture is of a perm i did on my gran and the second one on my moms friend :) both came out well! For my exam i received a merit for my perm :) YAY

Short Graduated cut

This was the first short graduation haircut that i completed :) i was very happy about the after result (even though it took me 1-2 hours) because i took it step by step. The cut has a lot of movement and good angles, my client (mom) was very happy with the end results.

Sooo.... I have a few things that I'm dying to get, therefore the saving begins! These are just a few things that I really want: A Basin with a comfy chair, A hydraulic chair, A trolley for all my equipment, A scissor pouch and a New pair of scissors! I know for sure that someday soon I will have all these things, it is just a matter of time now! CANT WAIT till I have my own salon going!! :)

Egyptian Make-up

This is my friend Roxy who I did the Egyptian make-up on, I used a variety of colors which include: Pink, Blue, Orange, Purple and White. I thought that I could have done a better job but I think for a first attempt at 'different' make-up, it went pretty well. Obviously practice will make perfect, right??

I had an assignment for college that we had to do make-up for. I decided to do hippy and Egyptian! This is my friend Nina who I did the hippy make-up on, I decided to go for a very natural looking hippy! Have not yet received my results but i'm sure they will be good :)

Sooo Funny

I just had to add this picture... HAHA

True?

Fundraiser fun

So in the month of May I planned a fund raiser in conjunction with other students to raise funds for charity and we hosted a fashion show to raise the funds, we landed up raising R2000 and we were very happy about that because its money we never had. After the fund raiser a few of us decided to go out for a bit an celebrate the successful night, here are two pictures...

Finger waves...

I know this post should have been up long ago but I came across this photo and I realized that I hadn't put a photo of my finger waves on my page, so here is a picture of the finger waves I did on my friend Cat. In my IFSA exams I received a merit for them which I was very happy about! Finger waves were terrible at first and it took FOREVER to get right but what I soon realized is that it has to be done on the correct hair and then it is actually easy, can you believe it? :)

Gents cut

These a three photos of a gents cut that i did, just remember that a doll has very little hair, thats why there are so many gaps haha, if it was on a human then it would look much better! Doing the gents cut was fun because we got to use our clippeers but next week i will be doing my first proper gents cut that im looking very forward to.

Very short layers

We have been doing all our cuts on the dolls so just before we did a gents cut on it we did a layer cut on the graduation cut and this is how mine came out, I think its a nice cut for woman who prefer to have shorter hair and it could even work for a guy, it all depends on a persons personal preference.

Graduation Cut

This was the first graduation cut i did :) i was very proud of my self even though it was a bit off balance. A graduation cut is a beautiful cut and can be cut in a variety of was Asymmetrical or not! I enjoyed this cut a lot, one of the more hard ones but fun.

One length cut

So this is the first cut that we did, a one length! It does not look the best on a doll but its just so everyone can get an idea and soon i will take photos where a big difference can be seen, a one length is simple but it is very important not to loose the guide line.

Pin Curls

This is what a pin curl looks like :) this was done on my doll [Summer]. Pin curls are easy once you get the hung of them, all you have to remember is the direction in which the curl must go. It is done with lots of gel and with your fingers. A pin curl is also used at the bottom of a fingerwave.

Straighten

I think one of my favorite things in the salon is the straightener :) It can change a hair's look so much and can change it completely! From  a bushy look to sleek in one or two movements. This is a full head straighten that i did on my friend [Talisha]

Roller Set on Short hair

Doing a roller set on short hair is easier in that the hair is less to work with and dries quicker but not so easy in the way that the short hair is harder to roll in but the end results are the same and look nice, the photos below are a set that i did on a friend [Natalee]

I am back...

Keep a eye on my page as i have finished my first semester and am now starting on color, cut, make up and up styles! I am getting very excited for this new chapter in my studies. [The picture below is not my own i just thought it was an amazing creative picture]

The Tease

I just decided to play around on the dolls hair and tease it up a bit and make it into some kind of up/down style. Not many people like having big hair but if you do then you will enjoying teasing the hair and there is so much that can be done with hair, a comb and a tease...

The Hair Bow

I was sitting in my room and wanted to try something on my doll so I searched on the internet for different types on styles and things that can be done with hair and this is what I landed up doing :) A bow made with the hair.Simple but pretty...

Curler Tong

A curling tong was a very good invention in my eyes because it is so much more easier, faster and better than roller sets and pin curls. We used our tongs in class to make curls but also it put them up in the way that we do pin curls. It really does look beautiful and was a fun and easy process to do, it might take some time but once a person gets the hang of it, they go pretty quick :)

Outcome from Roller Sets

When doing roller sets, its up to you how the outcome will look because you can do anything with the hair once you have taken the rollers out but in class we have to follow specific instructions: Once we have removed the rollers we have to comb all the hair out and then tease all the hair in the different sections, once the hair has been teased we have to style it and make sure all the sections are closed. This creates a beautiful style. If big hair is what you like then this is for you :) I really enjoy the teasing part but not when it has to be brushed out... :) It cant be appreciated in a photo or on one of these dolls because its only 80% human hair but it really is awesome

Roller Sets

So... We have started doing roller sets :) In the beginning it took me about 2 hours just to section the hair (Forever i know) but now i know exactly how to section, trust me!! After getting the sectioning right, the rollers were quite easy to achieve and i actually enjoyed doing them... its a bit of a pain on the fingers but the end result looks great. I will post some end results as soon as i get good ones :)
